Showcasing new acquisitions at Girls’ Car Collection
The Girls Car Collection, a girls-only event, was held on 23 November 2023 in Tokyo. Among the approximately 30 cars owned by car-loving girls, we spoke to the owner of an American muscle car: A Dodge Challenger that she had just bought in the summer.
Love at first sight in the USA
Ms.”HiiHii” just recently got her Dodge Challenger in the summer of 2023, having seen it running in San Francisco when she was in the US and fell in love at first sight. It seems that her personal drive was behind her welcoming the 2018 Challenger R/T as her first car.
“I thought it was cool in San Francisco and fell in love at first sight, but I never really thought about buying it; it was like a celebrity I liked, something I admired. But when I went to a car wash with a friend, I saw someone washing a Challenger and a Mustang, so I said to the person covered in foam, ‘I like Challengers, can I take a picture?’, He said, ‘I’ll give you a ride while I dry it off.’ The moment he took me for a ride, I decided to buy this car. It was the same R/T model, but it sounded way too good. From there, I thought Let’s look for one! Let’s buy it!”
Sliding into the DM’s of a female Challenger owner
Ms. “HiiHii” was determined to buy a Challenger, but it was her first car purchase, and an American car at that, so she initially had difficulty in finding the car. However, this is where her drive came into play once again.
“I looked at a lot of used cars, but I couldn’t figure it out. But then I happened to see Ms. Kiyomi on Instagram driving a pink Challenger, and I thought, a woman driving a Challenger, I should ask her, so I gathered up my courage and DM’d her. I told her what I’d been up to, and she said she’d look with me for the car together. She even came with me to a used car dealer where we found my car, her reasoning being that she didn’t want me to end up with a dodgy one after all the effort. She also accompanied me to the cars delivery.”
