Nostalgic 2 Days, held 17-18 Feb 2024 at Pacifico Yokohama, was a major motor show starring old and out-of-print cars. Nationally renowned special shops, parts manufacturers, and restoration specialists exhibited their products and sold limited-edition goods along with vehicle displays. This year’s show introduces the Suzuki Fronte Coupe, a kei-car from the 360 cc era that debuted in 1971.

Auto Circle in Gunma Prefecture is well-known among automotive hobbyists as a specialist in the sale of maniacal & classic cars. They also had a booth at this year’s Nostalgic 2 Days, and the car that caught the AMW team’s eye there was the Suzuki Fronte Coupe GX-CF.

The Fronte Coupe was a stylish model introduced by Suzuki in the world of high-performance mini cars, with the first model appearing in 1971. Its proportions are said to have been redesigned by Suzuki’s in-house staff based on a draft by world-renowned industrial designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, and it boasts a cool look that makes you want to call it a micro sports car.

The first model was a two-seater, but in the year following its debut it became a 2+2 with an additional rear seat in response to market demand, and the car exhibited at the Auto Circle this time is a 1972 four-seater version.

According to Auto Circle, this Fronte Coupe was given to them by a senior enthusiast whose mission is to find and finish rare cars.

“The suspension was taken apart and redone, and all the brakes that could be replaced were renewed. After the work was completed, we gave it a thorough test drive. The radiator and heater core have been overhauled. The seats have been partially reupholstered and new carpets made. The steering wheel has been repainted.”
