New style for the popular Probox Custom
Osaka Auto Messe (OAM) 2024, held at Intex Osaka from 10-12 February 2024, attracted 660 selected custom cars from all over Japan. This time, we will introduce a custom Toyota Probox with a cute round-eyed, two-lamp front face found at the Koeda Motor booth.

For several years now, off-road-spec customization based on the Probox/Succeed with a lifted and matted paint job has been popular, and the Probox named ‘SURF STYLE’ was unveiled by Koeda Motors for the first time at OAM.
What is noteworthy is that it has been customised as a surf van, rather than a conventional off-road or camping vehicle. Therefore, the body color is two-tone bright blue metallic and white, and a surfboard is mounted on the roof.
The most distinctive feature of the exterior is the front face, which has been converted to two round-eyed headlights. This is the company’s original round-eyed kit for the Series 50 Probox and will be released in April; it was unveiled at OAM and pre-orders were being accepted.
The suspension has been lifted by 1 inch (approx. 25 mm) and is mounted on GARCIA Chicago5 alloy wheels with 165/80R14 size Toyo Open Country R/T tires. The pipe bumper guards fitted at the front are said to be prototypes, but look good against the round-eyed headlights. The grille flanked by the headlights is a mesh grille with a TOYOTA script logo.
The roof will be fitted with a carrier, but with a roof rack on the driver’s side and a surfboard carrier on the passenger side to carry boards and luggage.

The interior has been refreshed with the front and rear seats reupholstered in camel-coloured fabric. In addition, a herringbone-patterned soft mat is laid on the back of the rear seats and in the luggage space, creating a vast space when the car is fully flat. This is by no means a full-fledged overnight car, but it is sufficient for taking a nap in the car while waiting for a wave!
By the way, the rear gate can be opened to hook up a wetsuit. Originally a commercial vehicle, the luggage space in the Probox is quite large, and if you fold down the rear seats and fold the passenger seat forward, you can fit a short board inside the car.
