Standard and custom versions are lined up

Model manufacturer Hobby Japan has released the latest in its HJ64 series of the car’s original brand, the die-cast 1/64 scale Toyota Probox Van DX, Probox Custom, and Probox Custom versions with roof carrier will be available for sale in July 2024. Here’s a look at what’s inside.

Recreated in such detail that it is hard to believe it is a 1/64 scale.

The Toyota Probox, introduced in 2002, is the successor to the Corolla Van and Sprinter Van and is a light van built on the platform of the company’s first-generation compact car, the Vitz lineage. It was developed with the highest priority given to its function as a commercial vehicle, with a relatively high ride height for ease of use and effective space, and a near-vertical design for the side and rear glass.

The engines were 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre petrol engines and a 1.4-litre diesel engine, combined with a 4-speed AT or 5-speed MT. These days, an increasing number of owners are participating in one-make races and customizing their cars to enjoy them as hobby cars.

The model of the Probox Van DX reproduces the simple, linear design of the exterior in 1/64 scale. A closer look reveals that the emblem mounted on the front grille has been reproduced with a three-dimensional metal sticker, as well as details such as the windscreen wipers, door knobs, rear wiper, and rear window hot wire. The model car also features a retractable back door.

Custom versions are not to be missed!

The other ‘Custom Version with Roof Carrier’ has black steel wheels, which are inches up, and, as the product name suggests, a silver roof rack. It would be interesting to decorate it with items from the ladder and outdoor series that have been in the recent mess.

Body colors for the normal and custom versions are Silver Metallic, White, Black Mica, and Dark Blue Mica, priced at ¥3,400 (including consumption tax).

Another special feature of the Custom version is the use of a matte color. The roof is equipped with a small roof carrier painted black. It comes with special luggage that can be placed on the carrier. The back door also opens and closes so that it can be placed in the luggage space. The exterior also differs from the two previously mentioned vehicles in that it is fitted with a custom muffler.
