This Mitsubishi CV1W Delica D:5 was a remodeled version of the style that was the high trend more than 30 years ago, it was made by the owner who experienced the cross-country custom boom of that time. It is a masterpiece of cross-country four-wheel-drive that made the streets go wild. The powerful appearance is nothing short of spectacular. Let us show you how this wild customization was made by an expert.
Owned car history is all from the cross-country category
Mr. Lime has driven cars that concentrate on the cross-country style, Toyota Hilux Surf, Mitsubishi Pajero, Delica Space Gear, and current D:5. All of his owned car was modified by his own concept, full of originality and individuality.
The Hilux Surf, his first car was a high-lift vehicle modified as an off-roader with standard small-diameter wheels combined with large tires. It was built to enjoy outdoor leisure with an FRP shell in the cargo bed.
When he got married, he gave up the Hilux Surf. We would like to you, one of the real tests for car enthusiasts, the car was modified too much, and had some difficulties for the young couple. He changed the car for Pajero next, of course, he touched some of the parts that were modified. As a family with children, even the Pajero was not suitable for the family. He replaced the car as a family use, Delica Space Gear which has a sliding door for the rear passenger. He wanted to modify the body height a bit, but it was completely denied by the family due to boarding comfort. He made it only a few centimeters, we don’t know what was the reaction of his family at that time.
His current Delica D:5 was purchased 6 years ago. The children have grown up, he started to find out the ways the customize. It should be the ideal concept for cross-country style, that was the art of 90’s that anyone feels nostalgic.
Customization is just one step before complete
Road height is modified to 9 inches higher as a high-lift spec. There are no problems with the suspension arms, but he needs to measure the drive-shaft, due to the loss of function. The wheels from MKW’s 16-inch, paring rubbers are by BF Goodrich 265/75.
“Honesty to say, more bigger tires would be more cool. But it interferes with sliding doors.” Everyone thinks that how clear this point, the customize based on the Mini-Van. To make them cooler, the cutting and pasting of the body panels are needed to complete. Mr. Lime thinks about that also, but he stopped work just one step before.
Grill guard from Road House, double fog right in that grill, roof luck made by extra-thick pipe, the five round fog lamps mounted on it. In addition to that the truck-spec air horn is set on the roof. The parts selection and setting sense make the favorable atmosphere of the 90’s.
