R32 GT-R V-Spec to be passed down carefully
The Nissan R32 “Skyline GT-R” went on sale in August 1989 and was produced until 1994. Since 24 years have already passed since its birth, it is natural that many of them are over-matured, but at an event, we found a low-mileage car with mileage still less than 30,000 km. We would like to introduce Mr. Chihiro Miyazaki’s car, which has been carefully passed down from father to son for two generations.
An important family car
This R32 model we saw at the “Kyushu☆GT-R Meeting 2023” held on October 22, 2023, in Kumamoto Prefecture was a superb car with a mileage of about 27,000 km.
“This GT-R is a V-spec that my father, who is 65 years old this year, bought new at the time. The year is the 1993 model. I was born in 1990, so I am only three years older than him.”
The vehicle itself is not a completely stock spec, but has undergone suspension changes and ECU tuning with an Apex FC Commander installed. Rather than extreme tuning, the main focus was on light tuning within the range of everyday enjoyment. Furthermore, the rear seats were changed from the GT-R’s two-seat configuration to the Type M’s three-seat configuration. This change shows how much importance was placed on practicality as a family car.
A precious car that is not driven in the rain
“If it looks like it is going to rain, I never drive it. I usually use my Toyota Alphard, so of course that is my main vehicle. It is a vehicle that my father has cherished, so I only drive it when the occasion calls for it. That’s why I don’t increase the mileage.
I understand that I can make money if I sell it because used car prices are surprisingly high now. But since it was given to me by my father, it has a value that cannot be exchanged for money. I know that once I give it away, I will never get it again, so I will never give it away!”
However, as Mr. Miyazaki himself says, “value that cannot be exchanged for money” is the value that should be valued. The Miyazaki family’s intention to cherish and own this R32 GT-R V-Spec was an encounter that made me respect them as a fellow car enthusiast.
