“I can go fast anywhere on any stage”
Mr. “NAO” acquired the precious concept car “Genki-7” through the kindness of representative Amemiya. He has owned the car for 11 years now, and the specifications have changed little by little over that long time. When he first bought it, it was a car for enjoying off-line meetings with friends, meetings, and touring as a street car, but now the engine and suspension have been fully remodeled as a circuit car, while keeping the only body intact.
The engine is a 13B-REW with enlarged side ports, a TD07-25G turbine kit, a 3-layer intercooler, and a V-mount radiator for improved cooling efficiency. The muffler is made by RE Amemiya and the maximum output is said to be 420 hp with a generous and safe margin.
As for the suspension, which is the key to circuit driving, a coilover kit made by RGN is installed, which is well-known from the Tsukuba race, and the arms, which are standard on the FD3S RX-7, have been tuned with reinforced bushings and pillow balls. Rays Volk Racing ZE40 18-inch wheels and Potenza RE71RS tyres were used. Both front and rear sizes are 295/30R18.
This Genki-7 has been built to track specification, but it is a street and track car that is styled to drive itself home after enjoying a time attack. The interior has also been customized to his own taste, with the entire interior finished using a special light blue buckskin paint to match the light blue body color. It is also equipped with genuine air conditioning and an audio system for comfort.
Not only does it look good, but it can go fast anywhere on any stage. That is the concept behind the Phantom Air-7. Mr. “NAO” says that although he is currently into circuit driving, he will never drive it unreasonably to continue to drive it with care for many years to come. That’s why, when it comes to tuning, he is conscious of the fact that he can enjoy driving with a comfortable level of performance.
