The “RAYS Fan Meeting” held at Fuji Speedway in 2024, the third year of the event, was again filled with cars and owners wearing new and old RAYS wheels from all over Japan. Among used GT-R models, the BNR34 “Skyline GT-R” is one of the most expensive. In particular, the last limited edition car called “Nür” continues to be sold at more than five times the price of a new car, which is an extraordinary market price. The car has become a car that owners can no longer drive casually due to concerns about accidents and theft.

R34 owner “Tetsu” is one of those who are tired of this situation. He has always disliked making a statement, so he dared to remove the “Nür” emblem and install it on the back of the trunk hood.

“Recently, many owners have retrofitted the V Spec II carbon fiber hood and diffuser, and many first-time visitors think it is the standard model. For us, it’s a ‘done deal’.”

When he purchased the car, he initially targeted the V-Spec II instead of the Nurburgring, but when he learned that the store had a Nurburgring in stock, he wondered if he could sell it for a higher price when he sold it in the future. Even so, the price in 2008, when “Tetsu” purchased the car, was the price of a new car plus extra.

The car was lowered with an Ohlins suspension kit, and the wheels were replaced with SL wheels, a lightweight version of the VOLK RACING TE37. As a former mechanic, he has added a few other tricks, but the customization is limited to adding spice to the original.

Another part of the GT-R’s appeal is the encounters it creates. By joining the “Final Skyline GT-R Club (FS-R)” himself (he also joined the “Kankan Club” after turning 60), he has gained more connections and invaluable friends who share the same interests. The Skyline sticker on the body of the car, in the style of the family restaurant “Sukairaku,” was also a gift from one of his friends. It is also proof of our community activities.

Although the engine is stock, it has been updated with the airflow, injectors, and coils of the current R35 “GT-R,” which are the three sacred items of the 2022 car. The cost is lower than replacing the stock parts for the R34, and the reliability and durability are also higher, so it is recommended.

The current mileage is 110,000km, and although the car was used for commuting for 5 to 6 years after purchase, it is now completely settled as a hobby car.
