Observing the Hokuriku Camping Car Show, the most noticeable base vehicle is the Toyota Hiace. It is reliable as a working vehicle and has a perfectly spacious interior. In addition to its excellent cost performance, it has a wide range of after-market parts. A wide range of vehicles were on display, from full-fledged campers to overnight cars.

One camper that stood out among the Hiace models was Kato Motor’s “Blue Moon EX”. Camper cars are generally made of materials that prioritize functionality, such as plastic and aluminum materials, but this Blue Moon EX makes extensive use of wood for its interior furnishings, and the first thing you smell when you open the door is the pleasant aroma of wood. The interior of the car also features a good atmosphere.

Based on the largest size Hiace

The base of the Blue Moon EX is a new wide-body super-long high-roof car, with an overall length of 5,380 mm and a width of 1,900 mm, making it the largest car in the series. Incidentally, since this is a new car, both gasoline and diesel engines can be selected. In addition, this vehicle is said to be equipped with the optional J-TOP roof, which raises the vehicle’s interior height even higher.

A wooden bunk bed is installed in the rear of the vehicle on the driver’s side, and a counter-seat with a removable table between them is installed on the passenger’s side. This bed is folded down to half its width during the day, and one person can sleep on each side. The bed can be further widened to a semi-double bed by sliding it up and down. Incidentally, this is the industry’s first bi-level sliding bed. Four people can sleep on this bed. Another person can use the second seat and so on, for a total of five people.
