Changed from a Bluebird to a Primera 2.0Te

Mr. Aki likes Nissan cars and used to drive a Bluebird. Now he has switched to a Primera 2.0Te and also owns a B15 series Sunny, enjoying his car life. He participated in the “15th Jibiken Meeting” where more than 200 unique cars gathered in his Primera 2.0Te. We asked him about the circumstances of his purchase and his particular points of interest.

Satisfied with the high driving performance of the Primera

On April 20, 2024, the 15th Jibiken Meeting was held in the parking lot of Lake Sagami Resort Pleasure Forest. Attending the event in 1995 first-generation (P10) Nissan Primera 2.0Te was Mr. Aki, who had switched from a Nissan Bluebird. She also owns a Nissan B15 series “Sunny” that she inherited from her grandfather, but why did she switch to the Primera, which is also a Nissan 5-number sedan?

“I was interested in the Primera because I like Nissan cars and wanted a car that runs small. The price was going up, so I was looking for one while I could afford it, and I found this car. One of the reasons I bought it was because my father used to drive a Primera. I also liked the Bluebird, but it broke down somewhere every three months or so. This Primera hasn’t broken anything in about 4 months, so I’m already satisfied with that.

Compared to my other car, a B15 Sunny, it turns without rolling, so I’ve started taking mountain roads all the time. It turns very straight. In that sense, the suspension is hard, but on the highway, I don’t feel the hardness. I have no complaints because it is stable and easy to drive.”

The audio system with Alpine’s graphic equalizer

The car has been kept in stock condition except for the external wheels, which have been raised 1 inch since purchase, and the stock wheels are currently being repaired. Once that is done, he plans to set the stock wheels one inch lower than they are now. The car will be kept in stock condition, but with one change similar to the cars Aki has driven in the past.

“I’ve been particular about the audio system in all of my cars, and I’ve made it a rule to install an Alpine audio system with a graphic equalizer.”

Except for exterior parts, many parts are currently available

As Primera has been on the market for almost 30 years, it will be necessary to focus on maintaining the current status quo, but are there any plans to do anything in the future including that?

“The mileage at the time of purchase was 52,000 km and now it has over 65,000 km, but I wonder if it can still run for a long time. There are many exterior parts that I don’t have, so I have to buy them from web auctions, but other parts are surprisingly available… I am taking it easy that the SR20 NA engine will be fine for a while as long as I change the oil every 4000 km and do regular inspections.”
