Driving FK Civic-like Odyssey

Here we introduce the Honda Odyssey RB3, whose styling is so attractive that it is hard to tell whether it is a Honda Odyssey RB or a Civic FK. Look out for the styling that exudes a sporting mood.

To the challenging mask of the Type R

“I aimed for a customization that would not look like anyone else’s, and the key point is that it is a Civic in the front but an Odyssey in the back, which surprises people when they see it!”

That’s what Mr. Masahiro Okuno, owner of the Odyssey RB3, told us.

The Civic FK7 Type R is seen from the front, but it is not until you pass by and look at it from behind that you realize it is an Odyssey. Mr. Okuno’s Odyssey RB3 has been finished to look like an FK7 Civic Type R. He used to drive a Mazda RX-7 (FC), but switched to a Nissan 180SX. He then drove a Mazda RX-7 (FD) and sports cars, before moving on from the Odyssey RB1 to the Odyssey RB3.

I liked the Type R’s challenging mask and decided to give it an FK7 Civic Type R face, partly because Skid Racing, a well-known manufacturer of suspension for drift cars and other vehicles, had posted a photo of a Type R version of the Odyssey.

The proud face of this one-off creation

The front bumper, which is the main part of the car, is a one-off specification, combining the upper part of a genuine Civic Type R bumper with a genuine Civic Type R bumper at the bottom. The upper part of the bumper was painted black to make the grille look bigger, giving it a Type R look.

Late Type R-style white louvers were added to the left and right ducts. The lip is fitted with a generic under spoiler and the headlights are left stock. The grille was blacked out from the stock and fitted with Type R red emblems to create a face to be proud of.

Footwear was painted in the ‘Volk Racing TE37SL’ style on unmarked wheels. The calipers were swapped for Absolut ones and caliper covers were fitted.

The rear, meanwhile, is still an Odyssey, with M’s Speed halves and a generic canard. The back fogs are self-made and the muffler is a modified RB4 Modulo. This level of perfection is nothing short of brilliant.
