The 86 was the first car he ever owned
The Miyagi 86/BRZ Meeting, now in its second year, is an event that started in 2023 with the desire to create a place where owners, regardless of whether they are fully stock or tuned, can easily get together. The inaugural event in 2023 was quite successful with 50 cars, and in 2024, as many as 150 new and old Toyota 86s and Subaru BRZs participated. Among these Tohoku-centric owners, we would like to introduce one car of interest. </p
The taste shines through in the choice of individual parts and the use of color.
Mr. Sato purchased his 86 two and a half years ago as the first car of his life, and is now customizing it with the determination to drive it to death. He has always loved sports cars, and after considering other models, he decided that an early model 86 was the right car for him because it was easy to buy at a reasonable used car price, and there were plenty of aftermarket parts available. When purchasing the car, I was particular about the body color. He was not averse to simple white or black, but he decided on orange because he wanted a color that would stand out. </p
After the car was delivered, the first thing that was touched up was the suspension and wheels. 326 power coilovers with spring rates of 20 kg/mm in the front and 10 kg/mm in the rear were used, and although there was some thrust when lowering the car this low, it was within the acceptable range. The wheels, which were given to the driver by an acquaintance, are SSR’s Professor SP4s. Both front and rear are 9.5J x 18 inset 35, and the sporty 5-spoke design is his favorite. The aero system, which combines different manufacturers, also shows off his sense of style.
The one-off taillights have LEDs inside to create a star shape!
The front is by Sea West with smoothing around the license plate numbers, and the sides and rear are by TRD with a 326 power full strength wing set. The tail lenses are one-off LEDs arranged in the shape of a star to create an impact on the cars following behind. Carbon fiber was used effectively on the interior and exterior. The roof provides a nice contrast to the orange body, and the rest, such as the door mirrors and skid plates, have been kept to a level that is not too overpowering.
In the interior, the instrument panel, center console, and paddle shifters are carbonized to create a spartan, racing car-like atmosphere. The red color used for the floor mats and door speakers is a nice contrast. The one-off tail lenses mentioned above are also all carbon-patterned on the inside.
The audio system and interior have been customized
The audio system has also been meticulously designed. The head unit was replaced with an Eclipse head unit, one-off tweeters were installed in the A-pillars, and the door speakers were replaced with external ones in pursuit of sound quality. The interior and audio system, however, are being considered for a full remake in the future. The current specs are tentative, and the ideal is still high in mind. For the power system, a Kakimoto muffler and a Trust front pipe were used to increase power, torque, and response, while tuning the sound. The customization of the 86 is still in the works, with plans for a wider body in the future!
