Mr. Daisuke Ryomoto bought the ‘Stepwgn Spada’ because he was attracted by the ability to use as much luggage space as possible and the introduction of a turbo engine. The owner, who has driven the ‘Silvia’ and ‘Wagon R’, takes a US-style approach to the Honda Stepwgn in detail.

Customized Stepwgn with US-style approach

Mr. Daisuke Ryomoto has driven an S15-faced S14 Silvia and a 15-inch Wagon R Stingray. He started driving the Stewgn from the RK model, making full use of dampers and wheels to enjoy the “family car plus alpha” atmosphere.

He then bought a Spada, attracted by the ability to store the third row of seats under the floor for maximum luggage space and the introduction of a turbo engine. At first, he thought he would just change the dampers, wheels, and muffler and be done with it, but after being inspired by car friends and magazines, he steered the car towards the stance custom he had been wanting to try for some time.

“As I looked at various cars, both real and photographic, I naturally started to admire them. I’m going about it as a DIY project, and my wife is very helpful in giving me ideas.”

The cans used as shift knobs were also something his wife bought because she thought they would be useful. With the strong assistance of his partner, the evolution of the Sparda continues onwards and upwards.

DIY is full of ideas and individuality

Each panel of the interior is painted using a technique known as ‘ink skipping’, based on a DIY video found online. The pop atmosphere is enhanced. As for the interior as a whole, in addition to the panels, sticker bombs, figures, and empty cans-based shift knobs were also used to create the image of a general store.

As for the exterior, the front grille and fog covers were chipping painted about a friend’s car, and the result is something to be proud of, “I tried to use it as a color insert, but it looks good”.

In addition, as the length of the front bumper seemed short, a Stage 21 Celeb Lipliner was set to compensate. This was also made to chipping specifications.

For wheels, an overseas-made model found on an internet auction was chosen. He likes the rhombus-shaped hole discs and multi-piece style molding. The ZZ-R damper from BLITZ was combined with 326 Power and T-DEMAND springs to achieve the perfect look.

To enhance the US-spec vibe, a generic antenna is fitted. A MOONEYES antenna ball was also incorporated at the tip as an eye-catcher. The body is also accented with stickers pasted all over the body, including around the fuel filler opening. They have also been added to the underside of the pillars to add a playful touch when the doors are opened.

At the rear, the brake portion of the factory tail lens was painted candy red to make it look good even in bright light. It is an exquisite accent to the rear. The Rosso Modello muffler was also chosen as we liked the exit shape. The piping layout is also unique, and even with the ride height lowered, the underbelly is no longer a concern.
