Type 18 Crown transformed into the face of Type 22!

At a dress-up car contest held in Tochigi Prefecture, we spotted a blue ‘Crown’ with an edgy custom! It looks like a 22 Crown, but in fact, its base is an 18 Zero Crown, so it is truly an edgy custom vehicle. Let’s take a look at its curious specifications.

Bold modification in its eighth year

Owner Mr. “Dai-chan” has made a daring swap custom, which looks like a 15th generation 22 Crown (2018-2022), but the base car is a 12th generation 18 Crown (2003-2008). After eight years of ownership, he came up with a bold custom-making idea that even fellow Crown owners were unaware of, and put it into action.

His previous specifications were based on the theme of “fashionable and cool”, and he had been dressing it up with a Brabus motif, but his customization fever escalated when he was featured in “VIP STYLE” magazine!

So gradually his goal changed to winning high rankings at dressup contests. Naturally, simply assembling genuine parts was not enough to stand out in a field of dress-up powerhouses. So, armed with his ideas, he thought about specifications that would not be shared by others and arrived at the 22 Crown based on the 18 Crown.

The owner’s full effort has been made entirely from one-offs, from the front bumper to the side steps and rear bumper.

The headlights, front grille, and rear wing are all from a genuine 22 Crown and have been modified and fitted. The bonnet has been boldly modified, and the transparent acrylic plate that serves as the eye point is set in a design that gives the impression of a sword.

It is also important to note that it was made to look like a “two-faced sword” by daring to cross it. The acrylic board is also set with LEDs, so at night it emits a suspicious rainbow light.
