The three cars on display are a Toyota Mark II JZX81, a Chaser GX71, and a Soarer GZ10, three cars that were in the limelight as mainstays of the 1980s high-society car heyday. Rei-Tech, which has been in business for seven years, mainly deals with so-called neo-classic cars from the early years of the Heisei era, and its business is extremely wide-ranging, from vehicle sales to customization. However, there are other professional shops specializing in neoclassic cars, and the number of base vehicles is decreasing, not increasing.

In addition, it is difficult to find genuine new parts, or even used parts, and even if they were available, there are countless cases where the prices are exorbitant. However, Rei-Tech attracts many young users in their 20s, and, surprisingly, not a few of them use it as a daily driver. “Many young people want the car they had at home when they were children,” says Mr. Minamide, who also acquired the Mark II JZX81 on display from his mother’s car and built a demo car. The aero parts and body color are based on the atmosphere of those days, while the suspension and other functional parts are made with modern know-how.
