25-year-old young man’s 70 Supra

Lately, cars released around the time when the old man generation obtained their driving licenses have been joining the ranks of classic cars one after another. The third generation Toyota Supra (A70 model), which was introduced in 1986, is one of these cars, but this time we pick up Mr. Suzuki’s (25 years old) 1991 “Supra 2.5GT Twin Turbo”. What kind of car life does Mr. Suzuki enjoy with his Supra?

Switching from a Vitz to a 70 Supra

Among the several young Toyota Supra owners who participated in the 14th Family Circuit Day, we would like to introduce Mr. Suzuki (25 years old), who was enjoying sports driving in his 1991 Supra 2.5GT Twin Turbo.

“I liked cars, but I didn’t own a driving license until I was 22. After I got it, I bought a Toyota Vitz (NCP13 model) as my first car and drove it for a little while.

As my second car, I bought this car after a car dealer I knew helped me find one. One of my seniors in the car club at university used to drive a black Supra, so things went smoothly through his introduction.”

He originally encountered an A70 Supra in a car park when he was 18 and fell in love at first sight with its sporty exterior design. However, he had neither the qualifications to drive it nor the means to find one, so he was unable to purchase one. It was only in 2022 that he was able to fulfil his long-cherished desire and obtain the car, which was delivered in mid-April.

The reason he took part was to get used to the circuit

“There are a lot of car enthusiasts around me who drive 1991 sports cars, like NA roadsters and FC3S Savannahs. This car has been fun to drive, even though the turbo piping was ripped out while it was in the shop for an inspection once.

The key point is that the car has an almost stock look, and it’s tough to keep this style, but I want to make sure the car runs well to a certain extent. Cars are expensive toys.”

He also owns a 2000 Daihatsu Mira, and the Supra 2.5GT Twin Turbo is mainly used for leisure, as he has enjoyed long drives to destinations such as Kagawa and Ishikawa prefectures.

Mr. Suzuki told us that his reason for taking part in this event was to familiarise himself with the circuit. We may see Mr. Suzuki again on a closed course somewhere in the future, as he is about to enjoy motorsport. If such an opportunity arises, we will secretly check to see how far he has maintained the stock look.
