Working tools are arranged in a wood-based bedkit

The owner of a Toyota Hiace with a 415 COBRA bad face bonnet and a powerful face is Mr. “G-polish”, who does business trip coating. In the luggage space of his Hiace, which has many tools for work, everything from small tools to large tools is neatly and efficiently arranged.

Switched from a Prius to a Hiace

Mr. “G-polish” became independent three years ago after working for a company in the car glass industry, where he learned about coatings. Currently, he not only runs his own shop, but also goes out on site to provide on-site coating services. When he first started out on his own, he used a Toyota Prius for business trips, but there were limits to the tools he could carry. So he bought a Model 3 Toyota Hiace.

A newly released Sato Woodworks bedkit is placed in the luggage space, and fitted striped steel-plate style mats are laid down to prevent the bed kit from getting dirty when tools are loaded for work. The coating-related tools are mounted on the underside of the bedkit and the tools for surface preparation (body polishing) are mounted on the upper side, efficiently arranging the work tools.

The luggage space can hold a lot of luggage, but it is a little difficult to get small tools such as compounds, masking tape, and brushes in and out of the luggage space, which is located at the back. That said, it would be expensive to build special shelves of the drawer type. That’s why “G-polish” has prepared “grandson’s hands”. The tools are taken out by hooking them onto the handles.

He carries stepladders of three different heights so that he can work on high-roofed vehicles such as the Hiace, and carries two pairs of waterproof shoes for easy mobility when working with water, such as when washing the car. On the right side of the bed kit is a polisher and buff for surface preparation, and several types are used depending on the condition of the body.

It can also be used for leisure if all work equipment is unloaded

Along with the bed kit, Sato Woodworks produced a one-off armrest. It has a flat space for writing work slips and receipts. The bluish windscreen is coated with COATTECT, which reflects infrared rays and prevents the temperature inside the car from rising. He replaced it as a DIY project based on his experience working in the glass industry before starting his coating business.

On his days off, he uses the Hiace to go to the sea and swimming pools in summer and to hot springs in winter. However, as the number of work tools has increased and he is often accompanied by staff to work sites, even this ‘Hiace’ has become too small. He is planning to improve the luggage space to be able to carry more tools.
