I’m impressed by the first-generation Silvia! But ‘the steering wheel hits my leg!’

Next, Rami was interested in the first-generation Nissan Silvia. At first, she was attracted by the design, but when she heard the name Silvia, she said, “What? Is this a Silvia?” For her, who normally works for MSC Corporation, the company that runs Formula Drift Japan, the word Silvia may conjure up strong images of the S13 to S15 drifting machines.

“First of all, I was attracted by the sharply pointed design of the front nose. I also like the flat design of the upper surface of the rear fenders. But if anything, I was attracted to the interior of this car. It uses a lot of leather, which is different from the atmosphere of the Silvia I know, and the luxurious smell of leather is impressive. And when I actually sat down, the seat position was low and I felt the atmosphere of a sports car.”

Rami seemed to like the interior of the first-generation Silvia, but perhaps because of her height (169cm), when she actually sat down, she commented, “The steering wheel hits my legs!” She commented. Through the series of old car test drives, she has become more familiar with driving old cars, but this Silvia may be one of the more difficult cars to drive.

The Familia Coupe “has a cute ‘the old car’ look!”

There was also one old car that the girls found kawaii in its looks, and that was Mazda’s first-generation Familia Coupe from 1965.

“The grille and rounded lights are all together, and the face is cute in a ‘the old car’ way! I was also surprised to learn that the old Mazda emblem was designed like this. As for the overall design, I like the way the silver moulding running from the front to the rear creates a sense of unity.

Race-born 280Z: “I want to really race it!”

And finally, we turned our attention to the race-spec Nissan 280Z. Rami had always said between shoots and interviews that she liked the first-generation Fairlady Z. The fact that it was a race-spec version of that car made it inevitable that she would be interested in it. This car was actually used in races such as Idlers.

“I’ve always liked the FAIRLADY Z, but as this is a car that was actually used in races, I felt that it had a different kind of atmosphere. Of course, I want to drive it, but I have a strong desire to race it.”

This 280Z has a beefed-up braking system for long race runs: while most 130 Collection cars are fitted with Endless calipers, this 280Z has monoblock 6-pot Racing MONO6s up front and Racing 4s at the rear. Combined with the S tyres, the suspension feels even more serious.

Rami Sasaki says there were many other vehicles she was interested in during his visit to the 130 Collection, so looks forward to her test drive report on the 130 Collection.
