Loaded with nostalgic tuning materials and original parts

The first generation “Corolla Levin” exhibited at a classic car show was about 50 years old. But its shiny body, engine, and customization made it even more attractive and drew attention. 1974 Toyota TE27 “Corolla Levin” is a demonstration car of “Garage Ohya” in Chiba, eastern Japan, which specializes in restoration.

Fully restored and tuned to the smallest detail

The restoration and customization were done at the same time. First, the entire body was disassembled, bodywork and repainted. The fenders were added 2cm from the original, the front and rear spoilers were made from FRP, and all shiny parts like the bumpers were repainted. All body and engine bolts were new.

The front suspension was modified from AE86 struts and Full Tap Height Adjustable was installed. The brakes are a combination of Honda Integra Type R rotors and Mazda RX-7 calipers. The rear is equipped with Tanabe Racing leaf springs and Full Tap Height Adjustable. The front wheels are Hayashi Racing 8J and the rear 9J.

The interior is equipped with Recaro seats and a Momo steering wheel. The seemingly standard instrument panel has been changed from reflective to LED gauges. In the trunk, the bulkhead was changed to carbon, and the regulator and piping for the two fuel pumps were installed. The battery was also moved to the rear (not for weight distribution but because of space).

Bored to 1988cc and 253ps

Among many other hidden highlights, the engine is based on a 1588cc, 115ps 2T-G type straight-4, with a modified gearbox, high-lift camshafts, large valves, connecting rods, 79mm full counter crank, pistons, and many other parts from “Kameari Engine Works”. The result was a fully tuned engine with a displacement of 1988cc and power increased to 253ps. In addition, a 3-layer radiator, fuel cooler, oil cooler, 4-1 exhaust manifold, and original stainless steel muffler were installed.

In addition, the head cover & Solex (φ50mm) were sandblasted and then hand-polished to a high gloss finish. The old Toyota logo on the head cover was engraved one by one by machining. The plug cords were custom-made to reproduce the same plug cord routing used on the 151E race engine. The old details were not forgotten.
