Got the Wrangler of her dreams
About three years ago, Ms. “horo@jl-hono” got her dream car, a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Before getting this car, she was the owner of a Toyota 86 under the influence of her sports car-loving partner. When she gave up his 86, she bought a Wrangler. What is her passion for this car, which has been customized with a rugged image?
A rugged atmosphere that suits off-roading
Ms. “horo@jl-hono” switched from her Toyota 86 to become the owner of a Jeep Wrangler, which she has longed for. Has there been any change in her car life?
“I’ve started going camping and driving off-road, which is a lot of fun. I have even driven the advanced off-road course at the Sanage Adventure Field in Aichi Prefecture. The customization is more about coolness than cuteness. I want to create an atmosphere that gives it a local American feel and makes it look good.”
The suspension was raised 2.5 inches with a kit from Rough Country, and RIVAL F&R bumpers and rocker rails were installed. Other custom features include Sunrider, fenders, inner fenders, and KMC wheels, giving the vehicle a rugged image suited for off-roading. Toyo Tires Open Country M/T (35 x 12.50R17) tires were also selected to enhance off-road performance.
“I wanted to put 35-inch tires on my car, so I went to a tire shop to get quotes from different manufacturers and chose the rugged-looking Open Country M/T. I like the design of the sidewalls. I dared to use black lettering instead of white lettering. I like it because I can drive it off-road with a lot of gusto.”
“I want to put on even bigger tires”
She says she is mostly satisfied with her current customization, but there are still some things she would like to do in the future.
“I have raised the vehicle height by 2.5 inches, but I would like to raise it a little more. As for tires, I see that many car enthusiasts around me are wearing 37-inch or 42-inch tires, so I want to increase the size of my tires. At the moment, I’m thinking 37-inch tires, but I’ve already decided to go rear-less if that becomes a reality.”
