The next model of Mitsuoka’s long-selling Viewt launched in September 2023

Mitsuoka Motor’s Viewt, which was launched in 1993, is a long-selling car, with a total of 13,000 units produced over 30 years, with each unit being handmade. The first generation model was based on the Nissan March K11, and in line with the subsequent evolution of the March, the Viewt has undergone model changes over three generations. Its next model has finally been revealed.

Yaris instead of March!

In 2005, the model changed to the second generation Viewt based on the March K12 and became a four-door body only. In 2012, the third generation Viewt based on the March K13 produced in Thailand was introduced.

Nissan has ended imports and domestic sales of the Thai-made March to Japan, but Mitsuoka decided to continue with the long-selling vehicle. The replacement model has been launched in September 2023.

The base model chosen to replace the Nissan March was the Toyota Yaris, which was renamed from “Viewt” to “Viewt Story” as it evolved into its fourth generation. The round headlights and heart-shaped grille inherited from the first-generation Viewt are retained, and only a hatchback body type is offered.

Manual models are also available

It is powered by a 1.5L inline 3-cylinder gasoline engine and is available in FF and 4WD models. The body dimensions of the new model are 4090 mm (L) x 1695 mm (W) x 1500 mm (H) (1515 mm for 4WD). Vehicle weight ranges from 1030 kg (FWD 6-speed MT) to 1150 kg (4WD). The seating capacity is for five passengers.
