The new ATRAI FUZZ from DAMD, which coordinates cars tastefully and fashionably, was on display at Osaka Auto Messe 2024 (OAM). The design concept this time is ‘retro design x outdoor’. It was a vehicle that strongly reminded us of the good old days of vintage America.
Atrai Fuzz was developed for Atrai
As with the Daihatsu Hijet body kit, the Atrai Fuzz was developed for its sibling, the Daihatsu Atrai. The wagons and deck vans were presented to us.
Both kits consist of a face change kit consisting of a bonnet, grille, bumper, and wings, combined with a rear bumper.
The four square headlights that significantly change the front face are made with a strong awareness of vintage American cars. The design is reminiscent of the Chevrolet Chevy Van, which was popular in the 1970s and is still popular today.
We spoke to DAMD’s design team about what they focused on.
“The slightly pointed center section is in respect of the Chevrolet Chevy of yesteryear. The front grille and four corner headlights are made by Koito, a genuine parts supplier.”
It is also noteworthy that halogen lights were dared to be used to enhance the classical mood, with the upper section being the low-beam position and the lower section being the high-beam. The use of genuine Daihatsu parts for the indicator lenses also expresses the high quality of the custom car.
Safety equipment that the genuine article has is also taken into account
On the other hand, the rear bumper is also naturally built, incorporating a design that resembles a bumper shape that takes on the US legal item known as the 5-mile bumper. And thankfully, genuine equipment such as rear sonar and a rear-view camera can also be transferred. The idea is to make sure that the safety equipment that the factory equipment has can also be used. This is another attraction of the DAMD body kit.
The demo car has also been fitted with a roof rack from DAMD’s ‘trip basket’ brand. The steel roof rack, which enhances the outdoor mood and can be used conveniently, has a stylish finish in combination with natural wood that feels the warmth of nature.
The Fuzz Wagon/Deck Van, which gives the old-school vintage American van an Arai look, has the same natural finish as previous kits by DAMD, as if it were genuine. Naturally, the body kit can be bolted on without the need to drill holes in the original body. The installation and fitting are outstanding, and no detail has been overlooked. The high degree of perfection is a true feat.
A combination of cute looks with an American feel and body colors that enhance the chic, retro mood. This ‘Arai Fuzz’ looks like a car with a special sparkle for owners who think of their car as a piece of fashion.
