The Lifted Kei truck is cool, lowered one looks great, too!
In recent years, more and more people have been enjoying the outdoors and camping in Kei-trucks. We have seen vehicles lifted with muddy tires and vehicles with DIY tubular frames and tents on top. But the style of lowered Kei-trucks is also popular.
At the Toyama K-truck Meeting, held in Toyama prefecture for the first time in three years, many lowered Kei-trucks attended. Among them, Daihatsu Hijet with 80s-style eyebrows caught our eye.
Body kits to transform current vehicles into 80s style.
Mr. F, the owner of this sweet vehicle, had a simple reason:
“I wanted to make a Kei-truck with a lower ride height”. As he owns an Every Van for work, he completed it for fun without worrying about time.
“I fell in love at first sight with the JET★GOGO body kit, which can be modified to look like the 6th generation S65 Hijet. I owned an S200 series, so I concentrated on securing the funds for customs.
The theme of the modification was a lowered 80s style. But when I finished it, the stickers, suspension kit, and other parts became more JDM style. Of course, I like that too”.
JET★GOGO is handled by Garage ILL in Osaka, which has released kits to transform S200, S500, and even Hijet Cargos into the S65 Hijet nicknamed the eyebrow flusher and Atrai front. The brand also sells a kit to convert the JB74W Suzuki Jimny Sierra into a retro-style vehicle.
The throttle grip is reminiscent of a motorcycle.
The body kit was fitted by Garage ILL. The widening of the steel wheels was also ordered by an outside source, as this could not be done by himself. He spent the cost there, so the rest of the work was DIY. For example, suspension, leaf drop kit, etc. were done by himself. The 80s-style over fenders with screws were fitted. On the other hand, he got JDM’s taste with the Out Lip* style.

The throttle for the motorcycle protruding out from the dashboard is amazing.
“I connected it to the wires underfoot so that both the pedal and the throttle work as a gas pedal.”
