His first GT-R was fully tuned BCNR33.
The “RAYS Fan Meeting” held at Fuji Speedway in 2024 was again filled with cars with new and old RAYS wheels and their owners from all over Japan. Among the approximately 700 cars that participated in the event, we would like to introduce the Nissan R33 “Skyline GT-R” which was created by a prestigious store.
Fascinated by his father’s R35, he was gradually attracted to the GT-R
Mr. “Kazuma” took time out from his work in the Kanto region to attend this event with his GT-R friends. He acquired his beloved Nissan BCNR33 “Skyline GT-R” in October 2020.
“Originally, my father was a GT-R driver and still owns an R35 today. Hence, I have been exposed to the GT-R since I was a child, and by the time I got my driver’s license, I inevitably had a strong desire to have a GT-R. However, the R35 was expensive, so I looked for a car that I could afford and came across the R33.”
He purchased it from Zenitani Original Cars in Osaka, where his father went to school. The R33, which was sold at the prestigious tuning store, had been modified in every detail, including the engine itself, but he had no worries because his father went there.
The polished engine body, a testament to Zenitani tuning, had its displacement increased from 2.6 to 2.8 liters, and the cylinder head was fully modified. The turbocharger is a Trust T78-33D, a single-turbine setup designed for power output, but with an additional 200cc of torque and improved intake and exhaust efficiency, it is also easier to drive on the streets. This is what is called a “fully tuned” engine, but for durability reasons, the engine power was kept at 500 hp.
Even though he experienced an accident on his first circuit, he did not lose his desire to drive
The exterior remained original except for the rear trunk, which was flattened, and a SARD GT wing was installed when the car was purchased. However, for the front part, which looked lacking, a devil spoiler made by AutoSelect, a large canard made by Garage Defend, and a ducted hood were chosen based on a friend’s car. An under spoiler was also installed on the side steps to increase the volume, but the rear portion of the car was stock for some reason. The rear under spoiler was removed because the car ran into a bank during a circuit run and broke the rear under spoiler of the factory option. </p
“At the same time, Car Shop F1’s titanium muffler was crushed and beyond repair. I am currently looking into how to rebuild it including the muffler. I went off the track and had a small wreck on my first circuit, but it did not dampen my desire to drive, and I am still eager to try again.”
Mr. “Kazuma” says. The wheels installed are RAYS VOLK RACING 21A, the second son of the three VOLK RACING old car brothers, a modern interpretation of the Group A mesh wheels that once dominated the scene. The combination of old-fashioned deep rims and rough mesh is a favorite design. He couldn’t choose enough colors, so he installed different colors on the left and right sides.
The condition of his car, which is corroded by rust, is a matter of concern
In the interior, the additional gauges that line the A-pillars and dashboard had been installed since the car was first purchased, but some of the gauges started to show symptoms of irregularities, so they were all replaced with Defi gauges in consideration of their deterioration over time. Other than that, the car is virtually original except for the BRIDE bucket seats and MOMO steering wheel.
The current concern is rust from the hood ledge (around the damper mounting area) in the engine compartment. Tentative repairs were made before delivery, but it is a gradual process. Since it will not decay and break now, they will keep it as is for a while and see how it goes. He is taking his time to consider what to do, but his priority right now is to bring out more of his car’s potential and enjoy it, such as updating to a new LINK full computer and revamping the suspension for a second attempt at the circuit. He is not afraid to think ahead but rather thinks as he drives, and with the GT-R, he should be able to overcome the challenges he faces.
