A representative wheel of the neo-classic, inheriting the Volk mesh
Sports cars from a generation ago are still very popular. I think it is partly because they are rare, but many people seem to prefer the design of the cars of the time. The same is true for wheels, and it seems that neo-classic design wheels are becoming popular among recent dress-up users. In this issue, we would like to introduce some of the new and noteworthy wheels from Volk Racing.
A cutting-edge wheel incorporating a good old-fashioned design
Wheel fads are a constant cycle. Many designs that were a hit in the past are often revived years later. And it does not mean that they are revived as they were. Many hit designs incorporate the essence of past designs while incorporating the latest technology. This is the so-called “neo-classic” genre. The “Volk Racing 21A Spec-SR” is a wheel that fits the term “neo-classic” perfectly.
Cross spoke and mesh, a royal design
RAYS’ first model “VOLK MESH” was released in 1975. The “Volk Racing Gr.A” (1986), the first forged model by RAYS, was also designed in this vein. The design theme of cross spoke = mesh, which has been adopted by legendary wheels in the history of RAY’S, was inherited. The orthodox cross spoke is finished with an elaborate forged monoblock to achieve an overwhelmingly deep rim.
Now “21A” has inherited this technology and design, and the mesh design of the deep rim finished with forged monobloc still retains its beauty. Incidentally, the “12A spec-SR” will be a limited color. The base color is black, overlaid with a super-bright bronze color that changes depending on the way the light hits it. the high-toned contrast between the FDMC (Forged Diamond Cut) treated rim and the super-bright disc enhances its presence.
The rims are available from 8.5 to 11J and can accommodate wider fenders. Depending on the size, there are five rim types from SS (39mm) to LL (108mm) and three face designs with different concaves to choose from. It can be said that these wheels add sportiness and permanent beauty to the feet of the Toyota “GR86” & Subaru “BRZ”.
