A miniature car to keep on hand not only for AE86 fans
Modeling company Hobby Japan has released the latest in the car’s original HJ64 brand series: die-cast 1/64th scale Toyota ‘Sprinter Trueno GT APEX JDM Style’, Toyota ‘Sprinter Trueno GT APEX JDM Style Carbon Hood’ and Toyota ‘Sprinter Trueno Drift King’ will be released in June 2024. Here are some of the particulars.
Recreated in such detail that it is hard to believe it is a 1/64 scale
The Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno/Corolla Levin, which appeared in 1983, was given a 1.6L straight 4 engine and a lightweight body (940 kg for the 3-door 1600 GTV) , and is still popular with fans who prefer the fun of driving that only RWD can offer.
The minicar was based on the high-grade GT APEX, customized in JDM style. The Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT APEX JDM Style and Sprinter Trueno GT APEX JDM Style Carbon Bonnet are complete with eight-spoke wheels and open retractable headlights given only to the Sprinter Trueno.
The body has been designed in a newly sculpted form and reproduced in 1/64th scale in a stylish shape, just like the real car. A closer look at the miniature car reveals that the wing flaps, rear glass heat lines, door knobs, door mirrors, wipers, body color, muffler, and decals on the body sides and rear panel reflect the real car to the fullest. Furthermore, the bonnet can be opened and closed, and in the engine compartment, the famous 4A-G head cover and logo are detailed.
Also, although it cannot be confirmed from the images, the interior and seat shape have been reproduced. For more details, please pick one up and check it out for yourself.
There are three body colors available: white/black, red/black, and silver/black. In addition to the normal bonnet, a carbon bonnet is also available, priced at 3,500 yen. A pedestal and clear case are included.
The line-up also includes an AE86 with Drikin specifications
The other car in the line-up is a model of former racing driver Keiichi Tsuchiya’s favorite Sprinter Trueno, which is arguably the most famous AE86 in Japan. It has been reproduced on a 1/64 scale based on live-action interviews.
The miniature car is detailed down to the smallest details such as the bonnet, muffler, wheels, seats, stickers, and number plate. The bonnet can be opened and closed, so the engine compartment can also be reproduced. The product comes in its chrome packaging, with a clear case and pedestal, making it ideal for collectors. Only one body color is available, priced at 3,600 yen. It can be purchased at model shops nationwide and on the internet.
