Exploring WORK Wheels: A Detailed Look at the Schwert and Emotion Series

The new model of WORK is in the spotlight

Osaka Auto Messe (OAM) 2024 was held at Intex Osaka from 10-12 February 2024 and attracted over 210,000 visitors. For three days, the galleries of visitors from Japan and abroad were treated to an array of new parts and demo cars from renowned manufacturers and pro shops. Here we introduce a selection of new models from WORK.

New wheels with a focus on color

One of the first of the new models is the Brunnen, a cast two-piece from the brand Schwert, which derives from the German word for sword, meaning fountain. The combination of the contradictory concept ‘sharp’ and ‘flexible’ may leave some people feeling contradictory or doubtful. To resolve this, let’s first take a closer look at the top surface.

The cast slenderness is aptly described as a sword, and the beautiful cross-section is also shaped to evoke a sharp blade. The top surface is 2R, which is as thin as a right-angle, and this is one of the qualities that make it worthy of the Schwert name. The name Brunnen, on the other hand, refers to the three-dimensional shape of the spokes, which are likened to a spring that gushes forth from deep below the ground. The double design, combining straight spokes and mesh, is also a major point of interest, with a large difference in height and a strong contrast.

Silky Rich Silver and Brilliant Silver Black colours are available, and various options such as rim arrangements and custom order plans can be selected. Sizes from 19 to 22 inches are available.

Recommended for those who want to master driving

The other is the twin-spoke ZR7 from the Emotion brand, which claims to be lightweight. The ZR10 with 10 spokes was the lightest Emotion model to date, but despite the disadvantageous shape of seven pairs of twin spokes for a total of 14, the ZR7 is said to have achieved the same lightness by applying a variety of WORK’s technologies.

The twin spokes, which have many points of contact with the rim, have an advantage in terms of rigidity, so each spoke was slimmed down as if to challenge the limits of casting. It is also noteworthy that the centre nut hole has been undercut around its periphery to cleverly combine lightness and sharp looks. Furthermore, no compromises have been made in the design, such as extending the spokes to the very edge of the rim flange for a visually appealing larger-diameter feel. Sizes from 17 to 19 inches are available.

There are three colours: glow gunmetal, matt black and titanium white, with sizes available in ultra deep taper, deep taper, middle taper and semi-taper. Naturally for those who dress up, but also for those who want to master the art of driving.
