The 86 was purchased to drive himself to the Tokyo Auto Salon
The Miyagi 86/BRZ Meeting, which will be held for the second time in May 2024, was started last year to create a place where owners can casually gather with other owners, regardless of whether they are fully stock or tuned. The inaugural event last year was quite successful with 50 cars, and this year 150 new and old 86/BRZs participated. Among these Tohoku-centric owners, we would like to introduce one of the Toyota 86s that caught our attention.
The S15 Silvia was also a candidate, but he chose the 86 with less trouble
Mr. Atomu Sato used to drive a kei-car, but it was about 5 years ago that he decided to visit the Tokyo Auto Salon in a regular car and bought a ZN6 Toyota “86”. For about a year, he kept the car stock while suppressing his desire to customize it, and he achieved one of his goals of driving his car to the Tokyo Auto Salon. He achieved one of his goals, which was to go to the Tokyo Auto Salon by himself. He bought 326 Power coil-overs at the event and started to work on it as if he had just been weirled out of his mind.
The car was lowered this far without using air suspension, while also introducing arms to achieve a strong camber. The tires were previously lowered more, but they are now backed up a little due to uneven wear. The wheels that are being combined are two-piece Work T5R wheels, and the original matte color has been repainted to silver. The deep color goes well with the black body and is his favorite.
The audio system is mainly an MTX system, with 3-way speakers installed in the front doors and 2-way speakers next to the rear seats. In addition, two woofers are installed to block the trunk through space, and amplifiers are neatly lined up in the luggage compartment. He also installed an a/d/s amplifier given to him by his father, which he says was one of the reasons he fell in love with audio.
He was particular about the previous generation’s pattern of the Bride seats
One more thing he was particular about was the seat; the Bride bucket seats are loved not only by 86/BRZ drivers, but also by many others, but he wanted a previous model, not the current model. While searching for used parts in good condition, he found a red one and decided to use red for the speakers and other parts. To tell the truth, he would have preferred black instead of red, but used cars and parts come and go once in a lifetime. After much deliberation, he decided to customize the interior to match the seats and looking at the current finish, I think he made the right choice.
The power system tuning has not been skimped either. The mufflers are mainly Be Free with Flash tail ends, and the exhaust manifolds are made by PLM at a reasonable price from a friend. He plans to add a K&N air cleaner, an ECU rewritten by Flash Editor, and 19-inch wheels to further increase the power of the car. Going to the Tokyo Auto Salon with his car is just a passing phase, and with the influence of his friends, his passion for customization has yet to die down!
